My Weight Loss Story
My name is Andrew, and my surgery day was on March 16, 2026. Five years ago, I thought about having surgery alongside my mother, Cindy. She went to Mexico Bariatric Center® and has lost over 140 pounds! Blood pressure was high all the time, sleeping was never great, it was getting harder to move around, and I started giving up and not caring about my weight. Last fall, I chickened out…and then in December I decided that this surgery had to happen!
In February, I weighed 323 pounds. I started cutting the bad foods out and started preparing for the pre-op diet and lost 21 pounds before surgery.
My Experience in Mexico
Surgery day, I weighed in at 301 pounds. The surgery went well and my surgeon Dr. Jacqueline Osuna fixed my hiatal hernia too. They said it was one of the biggest she had seen.
The first day was smooth sailing and then I woke up the next morning. I felt okay but after the leak test, pain and nausea set in, and I just didn’t feel good. They kept me a second night to make sure I was okay and I truly appreciated that! I appreciate all the staff! Everyone was so nice and helpful. It was my first stay in a hospital and I was great!
The trip home was great. For the next few weeks, I wasn’t in too much pain. I kept to my post-op diet and my weight started dropping. I started feeling better and started getting my energy back.

Life After Bariatric Surgery
In the months to follow, I started adding more foods to my diet and I really started focusing on drinking as much water as I could each day. Hitting my daily protein goals used to be a real struggle, but I’ve finally got the hang of it.
In May, I celebrated my weight loss and birthday in California at Universal Studios. I was able to fit better in an airplane set and I fit into the rides with no issues. It was such a great feeling.
On this last Sunday, I stepped onto the scale and my weight was 232!! Down 91 pounds!! I haven’t been this low in probably 25 years. I’m sleeping better, I’m moving around better, I have more energy, my confidence is way up, I can sit on the ground with my legs crossed, and the most important thing… I feel alive again!!
My only regret…not having this surgery sooner! It’s changed my life in so many ways! I feel like I have a new lease on life and I can’t wait for this next chapter in my life!!
