Single anastomosis gastric bypass, or Mini gastric bypass (MGB), is a promising weight loss surgery procedure that significantly reduces weight and comorbidities. MGB is used as a first procedure or a revision of a previously unsuccessful operation, such as a gastric sleeve.
Mexico Bariatric Center® (MBC) surgical teams are well-versed in MGB operation. Hundreds of patients have benefited from the mini gastric bypass with MBC. April is sharing her success story with us. Read on…
April’s Weight Loss Story
Hi, my name is April, and I’m 46. Between perimenopause (“near menopause”) and life being harder after the pandemic, I found myself tipping the scales at 304 pounds. I was so tired. I genuinely love to travel, and I could barely fit in the airplane seats anymore. I’d get winded on short walks, and working half days as a hairstylist was all I could muster. I was beginning to have severe edema in my legs and feet. My health was really beginning to decline, and I felt like I was too young to be this tired!
Why MBC?
I chose Mexico Bariatric Center® because they have a positive social media footprint. They were also professional and informative during the whole process. I went in for surgery on May 11, 2022.

My Experience in Mexico
Dr. Alejandro Gutierrez was amazing. MBC runs like a well-oiled machine. All the moving parts fit together, and they make it easy. Nothing is left to chance. They have dealt with and seen every possible situation, and everything is accounted for. Everyone is helpful and kind and has an answer for everything! My scared nervousness went out the window.
I bought this tunic dress on clearance online as a goal dress to help me get to onederland. This is a MEDIUM, and it fits! Not only that, but the leggings I have on are a size 1, and they are too loose! I need the 0s now. I realized that the scale isn’t the ONLY judge of size or victories. I rely on it so heavily that I get depressed when it doesn’t move like I want it to. I know I am more than my dress size but DANG! Putting on a medium sure felt good.
My Life After Surgery
Life after surgery is so much more fun. I travel. I ride motorcycles. Even my business is flourishing because I have the energy to devote to it. My confidence is so much better, and I can’t lie, clothes shopping is fun again!
