Here is a patient testimonial that was written on October 20, 2020, by a great friend of Mexico Bariatric Center® and a fellow gastric sleeve patient, Rusty.
What’s Your Motivation?
Is it health? Is it vanity? Truth be told, a combination of both motivated me to research bariatric surgery. It was primarily a health issue, but I would be lying if I said vanity did not play at least a small role in my decision. After a little research, it was a no-brainer for me to choose medical tourism to have the procedure. The cost in the U.S. is very prohibitive (even with insurance). So nevertheless, I stumbled on Mexico Bariatric Center – which had an overwhelming number of reviews and success stories – clearly was the best choice for weight loss surgery in Mexico.
I would have never thought that three years ago. Since my surgery, I have definitely adapted to a completely new lifestyle. I work out with a trainer twice per week and I do cardio training 7 days per week. I have a track about two blocks from my house. To date, I have been around it 17,110 laps. That is 4277.5 miles. I started training for a half marathon over two years ago. I know I could do it now but I keep putting it off to keep training. I’m a little worried I might stop running once I get it done lol. I have also had success following an 18/6 intermittent fasting regimen. I know many people use a 16/8 plan but 18/6 works best for me. I eat between 11 am and 5 pm.
I don’t eat a bite between 5 pm and 11 am the following day. I usually have two small meals. Occasionally I will have a snack in between meals. (Hand full of peanuts). That diet is very doable. It takes a little getting used to but definitely doable and effective. I pretty much eat what I want I eat in moderation. For you men…… I also take a testosterone injection once per week. I won’t go into details but do yourself a favor and get started with that ASAP ?. I began my journey at 365 pounds on October 21, 2017. (I had been much higher than that). I set a goal to get under 240. (I am 50 years old and 6’7).
I dropped down to 180. I built up to 205 which I have been maintaining for two years. Anybody on here thinking about doing it…doesn’t wait. Get it scheduled and get started. I only regret not doing it sooner. Get busy living or get busy dying.”
Why I Chose Mexico Bariatric Center
I didn’t take long to choose Mexico Bariatric Center for my gastric sleeve surgery. I never had any doubts about my decision. The level of care and service I received at MBC was unbelievable. Their team of doctors, as well as all of their support staff, do an amazing job. They will do whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable with your decision at every step of the process. I couldn’t be happier with my decision and the results.

My Experience and Progress
I was sleeved on October 21, 2017. I am a 48-year-old male that is 6’7. At my heaviest, I weighed over 370 pounds. I was at 360 when I started my procedure. I currently weigh 220.4 pounds. I lost 140 pounds in 126 days. I know my results are probably not typical but I am living proof that it can be done.
Everybody needs to remember that surgery is a wonderful tool to help you improve your quality of life. It is not a magic cure. Once you make the decision to improve your health and your life, stay motivated, and continue to work and you will achieve whatever goal you set for yourself. Thanks again MBC. You have helped me change my life forever.
Update – April 2018
My scale this morning had a nice surprise for me. Saturday will be 6 months since my sleeve surgery with Dr. Christian Rodriguez Lopez at MBC. I am 48 years old. I’m 6’7. I started this journey at 365 pounds (I have been bigger). I originally had a goal to get under 245 pounds. I have definitely beat that. I don’t think I have been under 200 pounds since middle school. More importantly, I started with a BMI of 41.11. My current BMI is 22.3. I don’t remember ever feeling better in my life. Is anybody considering this life-changing surgery…what are you waiting for? Good luck to everyone on this journey. It will be well worth it in the end.
