(Updated Feb 2018) Single-Incision Gastric Sleeve offers a newer surgical method that is proving its efficacy and place in bariatrics. Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) surgery is the most effective and popular procedure for overweight patients to lose weight fast and keep it off long-term. The single-incision technique gives patients that are looking into the popular sleeve gastrectomy an additional option. Most surgeons don’t perform Single-Incision; MBC board-certified surgeons have been offering this surgery type in Tijuana, Mexico at a slightly higher price than a regular sleeve surgery since 2013.

Single-Incision Gastric Sleeve Surgery, also known as belly button VSG, is a different technique than the regular and standard laparoscopic gastric sleeve procedure. Single-Incision, uses one slightly larger incision, through the navel, to place all the trocars (laparoscopic instruments), rather than five or six incisions with the traditional laparoscopic surgical technique. Single-Incision provides quicker recovery time and can produce less scarring.
