Overall the experience was excellent

Overall the experience was excellent, and everyone involved was great. The appearance of the hospital from the outside was a little disconcerting. I think I would have been less alarmed if it had been described as a surgical center, rather than a hospital. Once inside, it was clean and well equipped. However, there was insufficient hot water in the hospital for showering. That was disappointing, as I was very much looking forward to showering post op and believe that a hot shower would have provided pain relief. The nursing staff was great. Their English was terrific, and they were extremely capable. I was in significant pain the first night post-op for which whatever pain medication I was receiving was insufficient. I wish I had been offered something stronger. I was very comfortable with all of the medical and nursing care I received; I am an APRN and can attest that it was absolutely comparable to medical care in the States. I wish I had been given a little better anticipatory guidance regarding the incision healing. It took much longer than I anticipated. Also, it would be nice to know if there is any way to minimize the scarring. The hotel was lovely. I really enjoyed Tijuana. Too bad I could not enjoy the food! On the third day, I realized that I could take a group cab (blue, I think) that only cost $1 to go in one direction. I wish I had known that sooner.
