Kia ora! My name is Vanessa; I am a past patient of Mexico Bariatric Center® (MBC) and now a on-the-ground New Zealand Coordinator. In November 2023, I made a decision that completely transformed my life. I traveled from New Zealand to Mexico for weight loss surgery, a choice that not only improved my health but also gave me back my confidence. Thanks to the expert team at MBC and the courage to say yes to myself, I began my weight loss journey.
My Story
While I didn’t have severe health conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes, I was living with daily joint pain. Standing all day left my feet aching, and I knew it was only a matter of time before more serious issues set in. I wanted to act before it got worse and before it was too late.
I initially saw a surgeon in Wellington, but after waiting three months and paying $400, he did not want to perform the surgery. Finding another option in New Zealand would have cost over $32,000, which was out of reach for me.
I was looking for affordable bariatric surgery, and that’s when I discovered Mexico Bariatric Center. It completely changed the direction of my journey.

When I started in November 2023, I was considered morbidly obese for someone who is five feet tall. I was a UK size 24. My BMI was a shocking 49! Within a year, I was down to a size 14. Just six months later, I became a size 8!

Life After Gastric Bypass
The changes I’ve experienced are incredible. I can now walk for miles without pain or exhaustion. My feet don’t ache at the end of the day. I have energy I never imagined possible.
Sometimes I still do a double-take in the mirror, it’s surreal seeing how far I’ve come. Most of my weight came off in just the first 8 months. I’m sharing these photos to inspire others who might be where I once was. If I can do it, so can you.
